natural hybrid, discovered 1930 by Henderson and Hill / native to Lake Garda region where both parents occur / ca. 0,3 m high and 0,45 m across / between calcareous rocks and rocky slopes / evergreen / scented / hardy in most cases
Daphne x hendersonii introduced from nature: ‘Jeanette Brickell’ (Chris Brickell), ‘Apple Blossom’ (M.& H.Taylor), ‘Rosebud’ (M.& H.Taylor), ‘Ernst Hauser’ (Harry Jans), ‘Solferino’ (P. Erskine & C. Brickell), ‘Arthur W. Hill’ (J.J. Halda), ‘Jeskyne 2’ (Papousek & Brejnik), ‘Monte Nota’ (H. Bauer),
Daphne x hendersonii -garden hybrids: ‘Blackthorne Rose’- ‘Kath Dryden’- ‘Marion White’ (all Robin White), ‘Flamingo’ (H. Bauer), ‘Fritz Kummert’ (Fritz Kummert), ‘Aymon Correvon’ (~1960, Correvon Nursery, was sold for years by Alpengarten Eschmann, Switzerland, as Daphne x thauma), ‘Torwoodlea’ (C. Lafong), ‘Aurora’ (white flowers, R. Lupp)
Daphne x ‘Bonnie Glen’ is a hybrid of Daphne petraea and Daphne x hendersonii ‘Rosebud’.
Daphne x ‘Liberton’ is a hybrid of Daphne arbuscula and Daphne x hendersonii ‘Rosebud’. Both hybrids were made by Dr. Cyril Lafong.
