- all about the Genus Daphne
Hybrid parents: Daphne sericea ‘Collina’ x Daphne arbuscula
first described by J.J. Halda as garden hybrid that was found in the U.S.A (Medford, Oregon) in the garden of Lawrence Crocker (Siskiyou Rare Plant Nursery) /
ca. 0,3 m tall and 0,8 m in diameter / evergreen / scented / hardy / prefers a sunny place / very tolerant / rich flowering from spring to fall
named and unnamed selections are available, all are very similar in flower colour (flower colour becomes paler during flowering): ‘Lawrence Crocker’ -leaves are less hairy, so that the leaves seem to be darker green, cushion habit, ‘Tichborne’ -shaped like a ball, compact growth, ‘Cheriton’ and ‘Anton Fahndrich’ -cushion habit, hairy leaves in comparison to ‘Lawrence Crocker’, ‘Tage Lundell’ -open habit, upright growth, there is also a Daphne named ‘Puzka’ that comes from Belgium (S. Conca) that fits into the above mentioned hybrid.
Daphne x ‘Red Pearl’ is the first Daphne hybrid with Daphne x medfordensis.
